Steel Magnolias - Idaho Shakespeare Festival

10/1/2014

I have had the enormous pleasure of spending the past month onstage at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival playing Annelle in Steel Magnolias with five peerless women from around the country.

We performed to sold-out houses, made grown men sob, ate a real armadillo cake made by a local grocery store, and heard wolves and owls and coyotes howl while we curled and styled and shampooed.

Thank you to our incredible leader, director Sari Keller, and to my fellow magnolias, all of whom are magnificent in every way: Lynn Allison (Ouiser), Allegra Rose Edwards (Shelby), Carole Healey (Clairee), and Laura Perotta (M'Lynn).

Everyone should get the chance to go to Chinquapin once in their lives. What an immense, utter joy.

"You have no idea how wonderful you are."
"Of course we do!"

NY Times on A Midsummer Night's Dream:

"Warm-blooded, frolicsome and splendidly cast, this production at the 47th Street Theater leads with its heart. Nimbly played, the lively young lovers seem as if they could live down the Street...They swoon, and we feel their rapture. They torment one another, and we pity their pain. When something is funny, which is often, the audience bubbles with belly laughter. The quality of mirth here is not strained, not even close, and thank goodness for that."
