Reading of THE GOREE GIRLS with Michael Cerveris

I was thrilled to be a part of the reading of a new musical,
THE GOREE GIRLS
based on a true story about a group of female inmates in 1940s Texas who started a band in order to secure their freedom.
The cast included Michael Cerveris (Fun Home), Ephie Aardema (The Bridges of Madison County), Lauren Patten (Fun Home), Josh Davis (Beautiful), Ben Estus (The Book of Mormon), Erikka Walsh (Once) and more, and was directed by Ashley Brooke Monroe (Fun Home).

Nimbly played, the lively young lovers seem as if they could live down the Street...They swoon, and we feel their rapture. They torment one another, and we pity their pain. When something is funny, which is often, the audience bubbles with belly laughter. The quality of mirth here is not strained, not even close, and thank goodness for that."
